The Albert Memorial

One of my favourite man-made structures in London is the beautiful piece of ultimate imperial majesty and monument to love that is the Albert Memorial. Queen Victoria had this built in 1872 in memory of her beloved Prince Albert who had died in 1861.

V&A Museum of Childhood

The V&A Musuem of Childhood is a great little free museum in Bethnal Green in East London.  There are all kinds of toys from the late 19th century through to the modern day as well as a small collection of clothing, furniture and other items relating to childhood from the last 100 years or so.

Late 19th/Early 20th Century mechanical/moving toys

Puppetry circa 1900-1920

Barbie first edition [1959]

Sindy through the ages (1960s and 1980s)

The tan-tastic 1970s Dusty doll

Fairytales and myths - Cinderalla and Puck

Terrifying...

If you get a chance I thoroughly recommend you visit the V&A Museum of Childhood, it's one of London's great quirkier museums.
